TRP visited Blind Lady Ale House in November of 2011. BLAH came highly recommended to us by beer geeks in the San Diego area and did not disappoint. Located in the Normal Heights area of San Diego it has great atmosphere that comes from an open layout, vintage beer bric-a-brac decorating the walls, and a dark wood interior.

BLAH is a gastro pub that takes pride in it’s efforts to deliver the best beer tasting experiencing possible. Some of their beer serving initiatives include a direct draw system that keeps the kegs as close to the actual tap as possible, they use all stainless steel components instead of the more common nickel plated pieces, a pre-pour glass rinse, appropriately paired glassware, and honestly poured pints which provides room for the correct amount of foam.

We visited BLAH during Sand Diego beer week and the bar was packed, but further investigation revealed that this a common for the ale house as it is a popular haunt for San Diego’s young adults. We ordered a couple of their non traditional pizzas that can sometimes sport  unique ingredients such as butternut squash, chorizo, roasted pistachios, and  arugala to name a few. We would highly recommend Blind Lady Ale House to any beer lover’s in that find themselves in the San Diego area.

TRP post courtesy of our East Coast Affiliate, Nick: Yards Brewery is located close to the Delaware River slightly Northeast of Center City Philadelphia. However, if history is a predictor of things to come, they may not be there all that long. Consistently increasing demand has forced them to re-locate three times, so they have [...]

Southern Star Brewing Co.

TRP visited Southern Star Brewing in February of 2012. We made our way to Conroe, TX after receiving several recommendations from Austin brewers. Conroe is close enough to Houston that many consider it suburb of the big city. The brewery was started in 2008 by avid frisbee golf enthusiasts Brian Hutchins and Dave Fougeron. Southern Star is probably best known for their Bombshell Blonde Ale, [...]
