TRP first visited Hopworks Urban Brewery (H.U.B.) in October 2010. HUB is an organic brewery incorporating many aspects of sustainability as Portland’s first eco-brewery. “From composting to rain barrels, and from pervious pavers to hand dryers, we have made every effort to protect “our” future with a thoughtful alternative. Hopworks is 100% renewably powered and “cradle to gate” carbon neutral.” The brewery first opened in 2007, with the brewpub following in 2008, and just recently a new location opening, the Hopworks BikeBar, in June 2011.

We really enjoyed this brewery and highly recommend it. The beer was clean, crisp and on-point. My favorite being the “Seven Grain” Survival Stout, definitely one of the best stouts I’ve ever had, they’ve also won a slew of awards for many of their other beers.

The food at the brewery is equally as delicious. They use fresh ingredients, make their sauces from scratch (to reduce packaging waste) and have waste recycling programs that strive for zero waste. You can find a whole list of additional organics information including vegan and gluten-free menus on their website. Also, check them out on Facebook and Twitter to find out daily specials and events.

This brewery is geared towards the biking crowd, so do yourself a favor, roll on in and get yourself a beer and some grub. You won’t regret it.

TRP visited Brau Brothers in June of 2011. Located in the heavily populated town of Lucan (pronounced Lou-CAN, population 220) you will find this little gem of a brewery. The actual brewery is separate from the Brauhaus downtown, although not far, it is just around the block in a large barn. They have 6 taps [...]
