From 100 to 160… Hello 2012!

By January 6, 2012Beer Travel

It took Maria and I exactly one year to visit 100 breweries. That’s an average of 8.3 breweries each month. In the four months since then we have visited another 60, which breaks down to 15 breweries a month AND doesn’t include the breweries we had already been to or all the great taprooms and beer bars we sought out. So we clearly stepped up the pace.

Why the uptick you ask? Well in the last 4 months we have spent a good amount of our time in Colorado and California. These are two of the densest beer producing states where you can’t go to the store without running into a brewery. There are 118 breweries in Colorado and a “butt-load” in California, according to Stephen, from New Brew Thursday, which is a technical estimation. We were able to visit 32 in Colorado and 25 in California. Here’s our route since our 1 year mark:

We were able to drink some of the best beers we’ve had yet and even better, have met some really great people. Shout out to all our new friends, nu friends and new followers we have yet to meet! The frenzied pace of the last couple of months took it’s toll as there were periods when we would schedule meetups and events 5 straight nights/days, poor little old us! Ha! To be quite honest we are looking forward to a slower brewery schedule as we head east thru Arizona and New Mexico in the coming months and catching up to post about all these great places we have visited.

We have some really exciting improvements planned for 2012 including more resources on how to get out and do your own beer tours! After AZ we are going to continue to head east, then head up to the northeast with the weather. Keep the emails and suggestions coming, we read each and every comment and smile for every single “like”/RT we get. As always thanks for following! Let us know if there is anything you’d like to see more of in 2012 and we will serve it up!
