TRP stickers!

Stickers! Everybody loves stickers, right! When we decided to go full blow with The Roaming Pint we knew that stickers would be a fun way to promoting the site. They are like business cards but you can slap it on anything instead of filing it away never to be seen again. We didn’t need to list our names, phone numbers, emails. All we needed to was a URL and catchy graphic that conveys what we are doing.

So it goes that we ordered our first batch of stickers. 500 in fact. This wasn’t a for profit endeavor so we skimped and got the standard square variety which wouldn’t have been that bad except our graphic is not square but a custom shape. Thus it started that I hand cut each one with scissors to get the desired effect.

We have many uses for the TRP stickers. We give them out to people we meet at beer bars and breweries. Bartenders are popular recipients and I am always surprised at how excited they get when we ask “do you like stickers?”. It’s half knee jerk answer of “duh” and half interest in our lifestyle and stories.

Then there is our secondary use of the single sided adhesive graphics…leaving our mark. We try to put a sticker up at every brewery we visit and quite a few of the other beer based establishments we visit. It is quite common for a brewery to have a sticker wall, locker, or other random surface that gathers these modern tokens of conquest whether it be from visiting brewers or to represent the brewer’s own travels.

I would guess that of the 360 breweries we have visited in the last three and a half years we have placed a sticker at half of them. Keep in mind we didn’t have them until a year into our journey so that it is pretty high percentage of sticky drops in the last two years.

What we didn’t expect was that as our audience grew and they themselves ventured out for some beer travel that our simple icon would be a recognizable symbol. Through the magic of smart phones and social networks we get to see our pint pins being discovered all over again.

When we slapped one on a giant Jenga piece at Denver's 1UP bar we had no idea that several months later a friend of ours would find it convinced that we drank all the good beer before he got there.
