This past month I had the grand opportunity to reunite with the friends I work with day in and out at WooThemes for the 6th annual WooTrip in sunny San Francisco (when we were there it was sunny).
I’ve been on the past two trips, my first one being hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, where a good number of the team is from and where the company is headquartered. Last year we all converged in Leiden, Netherlands for WordCamp EU and this year was the first time we’ve ever held a WooTrip in the United States. I was very excited to get to show the team our country, some of which had never left far from their own. We have a team that’s spread across 16 different countries so getting us all together is no easy feat!
I’m happy to report that 2 of the 3 planned team meals were hosted at breweries and each place could not have been more perfect for our celebration. AND the first full day of our trip resulted in (pretty much) the most American thing ever (and my all-time favorite past time) tailgating for the San Francisco 49ers game.
I regret that I did not take photos of the 2 coolers I proudly stacked with all the American Craft beer cans I could find including 21st Amendment, Anderson Valley Boont Amber Ale, Dales Pale Ale, Old Chub and Little Yella Pils but I did snap a pic of everyone once we got to the 49ers football stadium:
Tuesday night of WooTrip found us at 21st Amendment celebrating a successful end to another team first, WooCommerce Conference. We booked the upstairs where the taps were pouring and the food just kept coming!
Then on to…
I couldn’t have been more proud to take our team to one of my favorite breweries in America.
The following day we had a hike in the Muir woods and a trip to a Napa winery planned, so I did what I could to squeeze a bit of craft beer in there by taking the team to HopMonk:
On Saturday I finally had some free time to explore the town with one of the best people ever, my good friend and co-worker. Erica from OverYonderlust. Even though I didn’t think it was possible to drink any more beers we found ourselves at Magnolias Pub and simply could not deny ourselves the sweet, sweet nectar. Their Kölch is simply a thing of beauty.
Our final night had us ending WooTrip at Thirsty Bear Brewing which just so happens to have a few different large rooms you can reserve for a private party. Again, private bar, pouring as much delicious American craft beer as you can drink all night long, food for days, (that paella!) you really can not go wrong. We also hosted the first annual WooZie awards, which was made even more memorable with Joel’s brilliant MC job calling out the goofballs for the week, handing out fireball shots (Mikey took 5!) and awarding the team for their hard work and commitment to Woo throughout the year.
I couldn’t have asked for a better week! Thank you Woo. 🙂[hr]
This post brought to you by the 2014 Blogging for Hippo contest at WooThemes. The goal is to see who can post the most (max 1 time per day) each day until the end of the year. I can’t promise I will write every day but seeing as I haven’t written anything for TRP since starting my job at Woo in September 2012, I figure, might as well jump back in!
